St Martin de Porres Catholic Primary School

Our Pupil Leaders

At St Martin de Porres, we promote good citizenship in a variety of ways. The children have opportunities to hold various positions of responsibility in school aiming to serve each other and improve life in and around school. It gives them real opportunities to live out their Catholic Social Teachings and British Values

The most important people in our school are our children and their voice is of paramount importance.

The Chaplaincy Team

Our Chaplaincy Team helps to nurture the spiritual life of our school community. These pupil leaders work closely with staff to promote the Catholic ethos, lead prayers and reflections, and support liturgical celebrations throughout the year. They encourage kindness, respect, and faith in action by organising charitable activities and helping others live out Gospel values. Through their role, they grow in confidence, leadership, and understanding of their faith, making a positive difference to our school family.

House Captains

Our House Captains are role models who lead with enthusiasm and teamwork. They represent their house in school events, encourage participation in competitions, and help build a strong sense of community and belonging. House Captains motivate others to do their best, celebrate achievements, and promote fairness and respect. Through this leadership role, they develop confidence, communication skills, and a spirit of collaboration while making a positive impact across the school.

Our House Groups are:

  • St Thomas More (red house)
  • St. Edmund Campion (blue house)
  • St. John Wall (green house)
  • St. Margaret Clitheroe (yellow house)

School Council

Our School Council gives pupils a voice in shaping school life. Members are elected by their peers and work together to represent the views and ideas of all students. They help plan events, discuss improvements, and share feedback with staff to make our school the best it can be. Being part of the School Council teaches responsibility, teamwork, and communication skills while showing how every voice matters in our community.

Play Leaders

Our Play Leaders help make playtimes fun, safe, and inclusive for everyone. They organise games and activities, encourage teamwork, and make sure no one feels left out. Play Leaders are role models who promote kindness, fairness, and respect during play. By taking on this responsibility, they develop leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills while helping create a happy and positive playground environment.

Librarians

Our Pupil Leader Librarians play a vital role in making the library a welcoming and inspiring space for everyone. They help promote a love of reading across the school, support classmates in finding books, and assist with organising and maintaining our library resources. These leaders also take part in planning reading events, recommending books, and encouraging positive reading habits. By taking on this responsibility, they develop teamwork, communication, and leadership skills while making a real difference to our school community.

Digital Leaders

Our Digital Leaders are passionate about technology and play an important role in supporting the school’s digital learning. They help classmates use devices and software safely and effectively, promote online safety, and assist teachers during lessons that involve technology. Digital Leaders also share tips, troubleshoot basic tech issues, and encourage responsible and creative use of digital tools. By taking on this role, they develop problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills while helping our school stay connected and future-ready.
