School Prayers
Development of Prayer Life & Spirituality
Throughout the different stages, Foundation, KS1 and KS2, children are encouraged to develop their individual prayer life through the practice of participation in morning prayers, grace before and after meals and evening prayer.
Each class experiences prayerful acts of collective worship that are based on themes covered in The RE Strategy. This takes place daily when no other forms of worship happen in the school day.
This worship is more than morning prayers or a reading from the Bible. It is an act of worship that allows time for reflection and encourages moral and spiritual development that will help prepare students for adult life.
Formal prayers, appropriate to the age and maturity of the year group, are taught throughout the programme. This includes the responses and prayers of the Mass. Each child is given the opportunity for open prayer within the class so that family situations, illness, thanksgiving and individual concerns can be expressed and supported.
Throughout the academic year, the children have the opportunity to participate in religious celebrations such as Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter.
Our School Prayer
Loving God,
Bless everyone in our school,
May your Holy Spirit guide us
As we fill our hearts with joy,
Our minds with learning,
Our classrooms with peace,
Our lessons with fun,
Our friendship with kindness
And our school with love.

Prayers to know off by heart
As children progress through the school, each year group has specific prayers to learn, so that by the end of their time at St Martin's, the children will know a wide range of prayers and be able to say them off by heart.
You can download or view the prayers below, or request a copy to be printed for you by talking with your child's class teacher.
